On October 26, 2016 at 16.00 in the State Art Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Kasteev will be opened an “Horizon of events” jubilee personal exhibition of Kadyrzhan Khairulin.
The show includes more than 40 paintings, created between 1989 and 2016. The exhibition runs until November 15 .
“Horizon of events” is a way of the world, where beautiful nature allotted a modest corner of the web, and most important place is given to the endless circling machines on the thoroughfares of the city, in the squares of streets which are clamped grass, apple, figure of a naked woman, overturned fragments of a still life painter and Curved Dial hours, and as a reminder of the painting by Salvador Dali, and a black hole of Stephen Hawking, where time disappears forever (no power). Here, the “event horizon” beyond which there is nothing (for the viewer) – this infinite vanity of everyday life, which does not allow to see and understand a true purpose of life.
Kadyrzhan Khairulin works today in the amplitude of the exact nature by following up an absolute abstraction from it. This gives him an opportunity to create a multicolour palette of images, materialized in the pictorial and decorative paintings. At the same time, no matter what the style or the picture was painted, the aim of the artist is the meaning behind than on the surface and under the cover of a simple visual. The body of his work shows a variety of interests of the painter, which concern not only specific individuals, objects, phenomena, but also problems associated with the categories and laws of human and cosmic existence.
Interesting pages of his work were written in the series of very realistic paintings , where a central character is a chair, which is accompanied by a variety of subjects. This chair is a kind of personification of the missing person, very lonely. Sometimes it tells about a hat or a bottle, sometimes wooden floor and painting on the wall. Yes, and the chair sufficiently informative: it can be completely wooden (Vienna) or have a cushioned seat. These substantive features are something like a “suite”, playing the invisible King.
Abstraction allows one to create images in which the color and linear combinations are intended to talk about the exciting events of the artist with even greater degree of mediation. In pure form, it appears in the series “The line and spot”, where the artist plays a pictorial equivalents of statics and dynamics, achievements and standing, change and constancy. These paintings have a quiet contemplation. In “Game with fire” come to grips black and red, cold and warm, dark and hot light. Here the image of passionate appeals to empathy.
For compositions which are based on a kind of iconic bilinguism: conventional immersed in figurative abstract linear color space, which indicates the symbolism of meanings. In “And the water came upon me” fish silhouettes evoke the biblical story of Jonah. The composition “Melancholia” clears contours of the figures on a background of golden soil and black arched openings (person is a child of nature and culture), the floating green wheels with golden cone-tops can recall the often fruitless attempts to individual break out of the cycle of nature and social life to spiritual awareness .
It is difficult to talk about this artist, inclined to create the clear figurative sense, sophisticated visual charades on a couple of pages. His career, no doubt, deserves a deep and extensive research.
