THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND HIGHER EDUCATION DISCUSSED ISSUES OF ATTRACTING INVESTMENTS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF KONAI ACADEMIC CITY
Minister Sayasat Nurbek met with the President of the Turkic Investment Fund Baghdad Amreyev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar Arman Isagaliev. The main goal of the meeting was to familiarize major international financial organizations with the project for the construction of the Konaev Academic Town.
“Last year, the Head of State instructed to consider the issue of creating an Academic Town in Konaev, so that in the future the city would become a scientific, educational and cultural center of attraction for students and youth. The main idea of the project is to relieve Almaty. There are 36 universities here, with about 250 thousand students studying. We see that the infrastructure of the metropolis is no longer capable of supporting the flow of students that is growing every year; there are not enough educational buildings and dormitories,” the minister noted.
The minister presented the concept of the new Academy Town to the guests, spoke about its advantages as a long-term project, preferences for investors, etc.
In turn, the head of the Turkic Investment Fund also spoke about the activities of the fund, created to strengthen trade, economic, humanitarian cooperation and implement joint projects of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
“Of course, this is an interesting investment project for us and requires detailed study. I think the interest and participation of other Turkic states, for example, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, would enhance the value of our joint contribution to the development of human capital of the Turkic community,” said Baghdad Amreyev.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar Arman Isagaliev noted that for its part the Kazakh Embassy will provide comprehensive assistance in attracting large entrepreneurs and investors from Qatar to the construction of the Academy Town in Konaev.
The meeting participants also discussed the prospects for signing tripartite memorandum between the ministry, the akimat and foreign investors as part of the implementation of this project.
