The play “Golem”

Theater “1927” (Great Britain, London) in the framework of the II World Theater Festival “Astana”

A theater from Great Britain “1927” will take part in the World Theater Festival “Astana” for the first time. The theater was founded in 2005 by the writer, director Susan Andrejd, animator and film director Paul Bill Barritt, costume designer Esme Appleton, as well as actress, composer and pianist Lillian Henley. The cooperation of these artists and the combination of different genres contributed to the birth of unique productions. June 22, 2018 at the Palace of Peace and Concord, the British Theater will present the play “Golem.” This is a completely new way of reading the ancient myth. The public will see a story about how, in the era of artificial intelligence and high technologies, man himself becomes artificial, like a soulless machine. Every spectator fully recognizes his life in the soft suffocating slavery of the Golem. After all, the Golem of this century is technology that seems to make life easier for people. But in fact, it is already unclear who submits to whom. The play by director Susan Andrejd combines live action, music, as well as elements of drawing and animation films. The main roles are performed by Genevieve Dunne, Nathan Gregory, Philip Hambly, Rowena Lennon, Felicity Sparks.

Professional theater experts and critics will attend the performance: Asanali Ashimov (Kazakhstan), Jonas Vaitkus (Lithuania), David Asatiani (France), Beatrice Picon-Wallen (France), David Papava (Great Britain).
