Today, a strategic session of the National Center for the Development of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place, where the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek made a speech.

In his speech, the head of the department noted 4 priority areas for improving higher education that need to be emphasized.

“Our commitment is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education, the next priorities are infrastructure and digitalization. Currently, there are 626 thousand students studying at our universities, so special attention is paid to the development of infrastructure and digitalization of universities. New buildings and dormitories are built every year. For these purposes, branches of foreign universities are opening in the regions. This is necessary in order to improve not only the quality of higher education, but also to change the current education system taking into account advanced international standards. Another strategically important task is to work to expand the community of scientists in Kazakhstan. It is necessary to create a cultural component for the young scientific community; for this they need strong motivation. Thus, for 2023-2025, about 650 billion tenge have been allocated only for funding science, grant funding, program-targeted, direct grants,” said Sayasat Nurbek.

The session participants got acquainted with the methodology of the “X-matrix” by Hoshin Kanri, after which they developed and presented the “X-matrix” for the strategic priorities of the NCRVO.

Let us note that the mission, vision, goal and priorities of the National Center are to contribute to improving the quality of higher education in Kazakhstan based on best practices, research and promotion of academic freedom of universities.
