The program of the jubilee of Astana is presented to the diplomatic corps
ASTANA, May 31, 2018 – The presentation of the calendar of celebratory events for the 20th anniversary of Astana was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At a special briefing for the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan, Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Akim of Astana city Aset Isekeshev, head of the G-Global International Secretariat Serik Nurgerbekov and his deputy Murat Karimsakov spoke.
According to K. Abdrakhmanov, President Nursultan Nazarbayev attaches great importance to the international status of Astana, its role in global diplomacy, the settlement of complex problems of the present, and the establishment of cooperation. Therefore, the anniversary of Astana is an event of national and international level. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively involved in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the capital.
On June 5, 2018, the Ministry together with the Library and the First President-Elbasy Foundation will hold an international conference on the topic “Astana is a city of peace” with the participation of high international guests. The conference will discuss new ideas to address security and development issues in the region and the world, the introduction of intelligent urban technologies and the development of an innovative hub of finance, trade and transport in Astana.
The Minister also said that Kazakhstani embassies abroad host concerts of Kazakh masters of art, photo exhibitions, conferences, briefings, round tables and other events dedicated to Astana.
Akim of Astana city informed the participants of the briefing about the huge preparatory and organizational work to celebrate the jubilee of the capital. Together with the central state bodies and regional akimats, an extensive program of festive events has been prepared.
A.Isekeshev noted that the capital is ready to host in 2018 more than 1 million tourists from abroad and regions for which 200 hotels and 1100 public catering facilities have been prepared. The new airport terminal and the new railway station are completely ready to receive guests.
Also, the mayor announced that 7 new parks and squares will be opened in Astana on the anniversary date. It is planned to plant almost 39 thousand trees and 157 thousand square meters. m of flower beds.
Bolat Mazhagulov, the head of the department of culture of the Astana City Akimat, spoke in detail about the cultural and sports program, which includes more than 600 events.
During the briefing, foreign diplomats were presented with the concept of holding the Silk Road Forum of Mayors of Silk Road Countries “Global Silk Road” held in Astana on July 2-3, which is held on the initiative of the Head of State. The forum will be held for the first time and will become one of the key business events within the framework of Astana Finance Days, where the official launch of the International Financial Center “Astana” will be carried out.
According to the secretariat of G-Global, to date, the Forum has registered 1500 participants from 51 countries, including mayors from different cities of the world, representatives of political, scientific and business circles.
Foreign diplomats showed a high interest in participating in joint events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan and expressed their proposals.
