As part of the President’s official visit to Rome, a meeting was held with representatives of the Italian business community, in which about 30 international companies took part.

In his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke in detail to the “captains” of Italian business about investment opportunities in Kazakhstan. Despite the geopolitical situation in the world, our country confidently maintains its position as the largest and one of the fastest growing economies in the region. The President informed Italian entrepreneurs about planned practical and legislative measures aimed at expanding the influx of foreign direct investment into the country’s economy.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the main areas of economic cooperation between the two countries are: the energy sector, the transport and logistics industry, in particular the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the implementation of joint investment projects in the field of agriculture, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, the IT industry and the International Financial Center “Astana”.

The President assured of our country’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to potential investors. He also invited the meeting participants to take part in the Astana International Forum.

During the event, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Antonio Tajani, Chief Executive Officer of the CDP Group Dario Scannapieco, Vice President for Internationalization of Confindustria Barbara Giacomello, President of CONFAPI expressed their vision of the prospects for the development of cooperation with Kazakhstan in relevant sectors of the economy Christian Camisa, Leonardo SpA Group President Stefano Pontecorvo, Fincantieri SpA CEO Pierroberto Folghiero, PetrolValves CEO Sandro Malcori, Pietro Fiorentini CEO Paolo Nardi and others.

At the end of the investment round table, a number of documents were signed on bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
