INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND THEORETICAL CONFERENCE

Today in Almaty was hosted  a “Fair Kazakhstan: the present and future of the state language” international scientific and theoretical conference , organized by the Institute of Linguistics named after Akhmet Baitursynov. The event was attended by Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev, Chairman of the Language Policy Committee Adilbek Kaba, Professor of Ege University (Republic of Turkey), Doctor of Philology Mustafa Oner, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Arts, Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies Rustem Kadyrzhanov, scientists of the Institute, linguists and online philologists, school teachers, journalists.

“We must preserve the role of the state language, enshrined in the Constitution. Because our native language is the core of our nation. The President of the country constantly emphasizes that it is necessary to create systemic conditions, incentives for the continuous and sustainable development of the state language, improving the quality of use in all spheres of society. We must strengthen the role of the Kazakh language as the state language and turn it into the language of interethnic communication,” Malik Otarbaev noted in his speech.

Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, chief researcher of the Institute of Linguistics  after Akhmet Baitursynov Zeynep Bazarbayeva made a presentation “Zhana Kazakhstan: Kazakh til gylymynyn bughini men bolashagy”.

Chairman of the Language Policy Committee Adilbek Kaba spoke about the state language policy, its current state and future direction. Professor Mustafa Oner took part in the online meeting and made a presentation on the topic “Modern Toplumda Milli Kimlik ve Milli Dil”.

During the meeting, scientists and linguists expressed their opinion on supporting the initiatives of the President regarding the common Turkic alphabet, supporting the transition to the Latin alphabet, the law “On the State Language”, and language policy.
