Meeting with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi

The Head of State pointed to the progressive nature of the development of relations between the two countries and congratulated the Prime Minister of India on his country’s full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that Kazakhstan from the very beginning fully supported India on this issue.
“I want to thank you for the fact that last year you personally supported us and arrived in Astana for a specialized exhibition” EXPO-2017 “, which helped to increase the international attention to this event,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
The head of state noted that as a result of implementation of the agreements reached last year alone, trade between India and Kazakhstan grew by 53% to $ 1 billion.
– Currently, the two countries are actively developing cooperation in the space sector, pharmaceuticals, military-technical sector, as well as other areas. We need to continue to work in this direction, “said the President of Kazakhstan.
In turn, the Prime Minister of India thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for supporting the election of the representative of India to the UN International Court of Justice and noted that the multifaced cooperation between the two countries is successfully developing and strengthening.
“I want to congratulate you on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana, as well as expressing my good wishes in connection with the opening of the International Financial Center Astana,” the Prime Minister of India said.
At the end of the meeting, Narendra Modi stressed that Kazakhstan is one of India’s largest trade partners in Central Asia and expressed interest of the Indian side in implementing projects within the framework of the program “Digital Kazakhstan”. The Prime Minister of India also asked Kazakhstan to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
