Issues of digital economy were discussed at the first preparatory meeting for the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum

The first preparatory meeting for the 26th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum on “Promoting economic progress and security in the OSCE region through innovation, human capital development and good state and corporate governance” was held in Vienna on January 22-23.

During the sessions of the first preparatory meeting, representatives of governments, the private sector, civil society and international experts discussed issues of digital economy, innovation, good governance, countering corruption, promoting the digital economy in the field of security.

Director of the Department of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aigul Kuspan in her presentation acquainted the participants with the experience of Kazakhstan on the transition to a green economy and provided detailed information about the program “Digital Kazakhstan”. She supported the priorities of the Italian chairmanship in the economic and environmental dimension.

Chairman of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to international organizations in Vienna, Kairat Sarybai, during the chairmanship of the second session on “Promoting Innovation, Enhancing Competitiveness and Employment in the Development of the Digital Economy” drew attention to the importance of innovation and digital entrepreneurship. The Ambassador spoke about the main tasks of President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Address to the People of Kazakhstan “New Development Opportunities in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

In addition, Adilbek Mukashev, head of the department of the Agency for Civil Service and Anti-Corruption Affairs in Pavlodar region, delivered a report at the session on promoting proper governance, transparency and combating corruption through digitalization, during which he acquainted with the experience of Kazakhstan.

The managing director of the International Financial Center “Astana” Aidar Kazybayev, familiarizing the participants with the work of the Center, spoke about the promotion of sustainable development through the digitization of the economy in Kazakhstan.

The second preparatory meeting will take place in May this year in Italy. The economic and environmental forum is planned in the Czech capital on September 5-8, 2018. In 2017, in June, the Second Preparatory Meeting was organized within the framework of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
