The water surface of Maly Taldykol will be preserved.

The area around the storage tank will be landscaped. Two ecological parks will be built: one near Lake Bolshoy Taldykol, the other near Lake Maybalyk. This was stated by the head of the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations Nurlan Urankhaev.

“Small Taldykol is not a lake, but a water reservoir. However, it will not dry out. The water surface will be preserved. The so-called mirror. There will be no construction work on the Maly Taldykol itself. And around – according to the plan of compact building of the city – the territory will be improved. These are housing, social facilities – schools, kindergartens, etc. For example, the Zelenyi Kvartal residential complex itself was once built on a swamp, the same is true for the Khan-Shatyr shopping and entertainment center, Turan Avenue, etc.

But, nevertheless, we once again inform you that the water surface of Maly Taldykol will be preserved. Meetings with activists were held more than once. There is no need to spread false information, ”said Nurlan Urankhaev, head of the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations.

The Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the city of Nur-Sultan in August 2020 carried out an additional examination of the waters of Maly Taldykol. According to the study, the excess of the maximum permissible concentration for iron is 6.2 times, chlorides – 9.3 times, sulfates – 1.1 times, ammonia – 5 times, etc. The color of the water belongs to category 2. Thus, this indicates a high level of pollution of the reservoir, which is unsuitable for the life of living organisms.

Taldykol itself (Big Taldykol) will have its own ecological infrastructure. The country’s first natural park with a protected and forest-park zone with a total area of 5700 hectares will appear near Lake Taldykol. Employees of Astanagenplan, together with the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan, studied international experience in the design and construction of natural parks together with colleagues from the UK on the example of the London Wetland Center, Rainham Marshes Natural Park, Sherwood Forest, Minsmere Reserve and held meetings with leading specialists of the society birds. Natural and scientific substantiation of the creation of a city natural park, a positive conclusion of the state ecological expertise.

It is planned to build observation platforms, educational centers for future biologists, ichthyologists, ornithologists, ecologists along the territory. It is not for nothing that this is a historically important bird area. During the period of seasonal migrations, up to 200 bird species can be seen on the lakes and adjacent territories. Thus, the city will have the opportunity to preserve the natural habitat for the Red Book animals and birds.

An equally attractive place will be the second ecopark of Lake Maybalyk (southeast side towards the airport). The total area of the territory is 400 hectares, reservoirs – almost 120 hectares. The park complex provides for specially protected coastal zones, the creation of artificial reservoirs for fishing, grounds for maintaining the unique ecosystem of the city, there will also be bike paths, walking areas, grounds for practicing various sports, etc.
It is planned to open an equestrian club. This means that the territory of the park can be explored along the equestrian paths.

The territory of Lake Maybalyk will be a kind of protected area, from which it will be possible to see the outgoing canals, which, like “living arteries”, will give access to the lake for all citizens. In the future, the forest park will become the green center of a dynamically developing city. This is an important step for the continuation of the green capital idea.
