The President visited a specialized children’s and youth sports school in Stepnogorsk

As part of a working trip to the Akmola region, the President visited the children’s and youth sports school of Stepnogorsk, 1,140 pupils of which are engaged in boxing, freestyle wrestling, weightlifting, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, football, ski racing and sambo. Classes are taught by 30 trainers-teachers. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was introduced to the weightlifting hall and the large game room, where the training sessions for the pupils of the Youth Sports School are held. After touring the school, the head of state met with eminent athletes and coaches of the region. The President said that he closely follows the performances of Kazakh athletes and supports them.
He thanked the athletes for their high achievements in major competitions and noted their contribution to maintaining the image of our country abroad.
At the end of the event, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented a letter of thanks to Bekentai Turlubekov, the champion of the World Winter Universiade in Lake Placid (USA), biathlete.
