The number of patients treated with the help of high technologies has doubled

Thanks to the development of medicine, it has now become possible to provide specialized medical care using innovative, unique methods of diagnosis and treatment – high-tech medical services.

According to the Social Health Insurance Fund, over 10 months of the current year, 15.1 thousand patients were treated with the help of HTMU. For the same period in 2020 – 7.2 thousand patients. Compared to last year, the main growth occurred in services provided in the compulsory health insurance package.Available technologies High-tech medical care is expensive and is provided only in specialized medical organizations by narrow-profile doctors with a high level of qualifications.

In 2020, 122 providers provided medical care across the country using HTMU, of which 42 – within the guaranteed volume of free medical care and 80 – in the compulsory social health insurance system.

And in 2021, at present, high-tech medical care is provided by 151 medical organizations, where 55 work within the guaranteed volume of medical care, and 96 are providers of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund.

Significant changes have taken place in Aktobe, Zhambyl, Mangistau, Karaganda regions, Almaty. The largest number of HTMU suppliers are concentrated in large regions – Almaty, Nur-Sultan, East Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions. Correspondingly, the volumes of financing of these types of medical care also increased. If last year contracts within the guaranteed volume of medical care for HTMU were concluded in the amount of 3.9 billion tenge, then this year the amount was 5 billion tenge (an increase of almost 29%). In the OSHI system last year, contracts were concluded for 29.2 billion tenge, while this year their volume increased by 55% and amounted to almost 45.4 billion tenge. Treated at a high level At the end of 10 months of 2021, 15.1 thousand patients were discharged from hospitals in the country, treated with the help of high-tech medical services. The cost of this treatment amounted to more than 39.3 billion tenge.

At the same time, it should be noted that most of the patients were treated with the use of high technologies within the framework of the compulsory health insurance – 14.6 thousand people. Within the framework of the guaranteed volume of medical care, high-tech assistance is provided if the patient requires emergency treatment.

From IVF to stem cell transplant In vitro fertilization services were provided most of all with the use of VTMS. The cost of one IVF cycle is about 1 million tenge. For the insured, this service is carried out at the expense of health insurance. The average cost of high-tech services is over 2.5 million tenge.

For example, an operation to implant an electromagnetic hearing aid is in demand and expensive – over 6 million tenge. Implantation of an automatic cardioverter / defibrillator costs more than 6.5 million tenge. Endovascular (total) embolization or occlusion of the vessels of the head and neck costs about 5 million tenge. Also, with the help of HTMU, mesenchymal and fetal stem cells are transplanted (more than 620 thousand and 560 thousand tenge, respectively).

All these services were provided to patients free of charge within the guaranteed volume of free medical care and, for the most part, in the health insurance system.

That is, paying even at 2,125 tenge as an independent payer for 12 months (25,500 tenge per year), a person can receive an expensive operation for this amount, costing several million tenge.
