The film “Shyraқshy / Keeper” became the nominee for the Nika Prize

The film directed by Ermek Tursunov “Shyraқshy / Keeper” became one of the nominees for the 2020 Nika Prize. The Kazakhstani film will be considered in the category “Best Film of the CIS and Baltic Countries”. Films of directors from Kyrgyzstan, Estonia, Georgia and Armenia are also presented in this nomination.

The award ceremony “Nika 2020” will be held March 29, 2020 in Moscow in the Concert Hall “Vegas”.

Recall that the feature film directed by Ermek Tursunov “Shyraқshy / Keeper”, commissioned by the Kazakhfilm film studio with the participation of Tursunov Film, was commissioned on January 23, 2020.

The painting “Shyraқshy / Keeper”, the author of which is the late Kazakhstan actor Mentai Utepbergenov, tells the story of a soldier who returned from the war. In his hands is an old film projector with films – a gift from a rescued old German. Until the end of his days, a soldier no longer partes with a film projector, because good and light should always have a keeper.

The world premiere of the film took place in China in June 2019 as part of the XXII Shanghai International Film Festival. Also, the film managed to take part in the Open Russian Film Festival “Kinoshok-2019” (Anapa, Russia), where actor Murat Mukazhanov received a Special Grand Jury diploma “For creating a poetic image of a cinema art clerk”, and film director Martin Sechanov won a prize named after A. Knyazhinsky “ For the best cinematography in a full-length movie. ” In November last year, the film received two awards at once at the Sochi International Film Festival and Awards: the prize in the nomination “Best Film” and the prize “For Best Actress”, which went to Russian actress Nina Usatova. In addition, the artwork took part in the Asian World Film Festival (USA), Dhaka International Film Festival (Bangladesh), and was also shown in France and Mongolia as part of the Days of Kazakhstani Cinema.

The National Cinema Prize “Nika” was established in 1987 by the secretariat of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. Winners are determined by secret ballot by members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts. Winners receive a prize statue of the winged ancient Greek goddess Nika.
