The film “On the Edge” won a prize at a film festival in Greece
The film “On the Edge” directed by Aldiyar Bayrakimov won the prize from the Greek Film Critics Association at the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Youth, which took place from November 30 to December 7, 2019 in Pyrgos (Greece). The film was shot by the Kazakhfilm studio by order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Bayrakimov’s painting tells the story of two teenagers living in different worlds. Once the fate of the heroes suddenly collide. Lack of support, family warmth, conflicts with society push them to a dangerous edge …
This festival is a unique event. It was created in 1997 as a result of a collaboration of local authorities and a non-profit youth organization. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the General Secretariat for Youth Affairs.
The main goal of the festival is to inform the Greek audience about current film news for children and youth, to promote the development of audio-visual programs for children and youth in Greece, and to encourage the production of such films.
“It’s great that our film, in addition to the love of the audience, is awarded the attention of film critics. Congratulations to the crew! Thanks to everyone who further participates in promoting our film on international platforms! ”, Director Aldiyar Bayrakimov shared his impressions.
Let’s recall that last year the film “On the Edge” took part in the main competition of the Open Film Festival of the CIS and Baltic countries “Kinoshok”, and also won a special jury prize for the best screenplay and awards from the UNICEF Foundation at the Listopad International Film Festival in Belarus. Another achievement for the film was the award of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Kulager” in the category “Best Debut”.
