The area of intensive apple orchards exceeded 2 thousand hectares in the Almaty region
In the Almaty region, the area of intensive apple orchards reached 2222 hectares, and in 2022 it is planned to increase their area to 2600 hectares. If this year it is planned to get a crop of 18.9 thousand tons from intensive apple orchards, then in 2022 – more than 31 thousand tons, the press service of the akim of Almaty region reports.
As noted in the regional department of agriculture, in the current year, work on the development of gardening continues. Today, the area of orchards in the region is 996.1 hectares, of which 402.8 hectares are pome seeds, 431.2 hemp fruits, 161 hectares berries, 1 hectare nuts and 0.08 hectares grapes. As for the famous Aport apple variety, in 2012-2018, 214 business entities in the region who planted Aport apple trees on 728.8 hectares received 670.4 million tenge of subsidies from the local budget. Thanks to the measures taken, the area of orchards planted with Aport apple trees reached 2000 ha. The number of seedlings is 416 thousand.
In general, in order to increase the volume of apple production, instead of the old simple orchards, new orchards are annually laid intensive gardens. Their main feature is that undersized apple trees in the second year already yield 30% of the crop, and in the third – already 80-85%, while the harvest does not require special physical effort.
To date, 2222 hectares of intensive apple orchards have been registered in the region, and in 2022 it is planned to increase their volume to 2600 hectares. In intensive apple orchards, varieties such as Fuji, Golden Delicious, Gala, Granny Smith, Starkrimson, Idared, Golden Superb and others are grown. In addition, joint work and exchange of experience on the use of modern apple technology, planting stock with specialists from Italy, Germany, Serbia, Poland, Holland, and Turkey are carried out. This year, it is planned to get a crop of 18.9 thousand tons from intensive apple orchards, and more than 31 thousand tons in 2022.
According to the Regional Department of Agriculture, by the end of 2019, the total land occupied by fruit trees, grapes and nuts amounted to 23.7 thousand ha, including: fruit – 18.7 thousand ha, while the gross production amounted to 129.6 thousand tons, of which 86.8 thousand tons of apples were harvested.
This year, it is planned to collect 91.8 thousand tons of apples. The demand of the region is covered by 100%, Almaty – by 72.4%, and the country as a whole – by 19.6%. The resulting crop will be sold in retail outlets in the Almaty region and the city of Almaty, and about 7 thousand tons of apples will be used for processing and production of juices.
It is important to emphasize that by 2022 in the Almaty region it is planned to increase the yield of apples to 170 thousand tons, that is, to increase 1.4 times.
