The director of the film “El Freeman” became “the best debutant” of the Madrid International Film Festival
The feature film “El Freeman”, who took part in the Madrid International Film Festival, which was held from July 21 to 28, 2018, received an award in the category “Best Director-Debutant”. Also, the picture was nominated in the category “Best camera work in the feature film”. The film was created at the film studio “Kazakhfilm” named after Sh.Aymanov under the order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is noteworthy that the director of the picture Elzhas Rahimbekov bypassed in this category 14 competitors from around the world, including the famous Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf, who also claimed the title of “Best Director-debutant” with his film “#TAKEMEANYWHERE”. The debut picture of Rakhimbekov (a creative pseudonym – Mihar Sažle) tells the story of an immigrant hiding from the US authorities in Los Angeles. In addition to directing, he also played the main role in the film.
