On October31 2016 Nursultan Nazarbayev had a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Minister Erlan Idrissov

During the meeting Erlan Idrissov reported to the President on the pre-starting procedures as part of the forthcoming Kazakhstan’s membership in the UN Security Council, which starts from January 2017.

Kazakhstan’s President noted the need for focusing on the 25th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan when performing foreign policy activities.

– Our ambassadors should show the foreign public the country’s achievements over the past 25 years, which includes Kazakhstan’s contribution to preservation of peace outside the country with a view to increase the country’s prestige on the international stage, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

At the same time, the President stressed the importance of foreign official delegations’ visits to our country.

The President of Kazakhstan, pointing to priority activities carried out within the framework of the forthcoming membership in the UN Security Council, said that the mission is the expression of the international community’s special confidence.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs said that preparations for work at the Security Council are in their active phase; allocation of the standing committees’ leaders is underway.

In addition, Erlan Idrissov reported on the planned holding of a representative international conference as part of the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic festivities.

The Foreign Minister informed the President of Kazakhstan on the upcoming international events, the central of which is the holding of EXPO-2017 international exhibition.

Following the meeting the Head of State has given a number of specific orders.
