President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the plenary session of the Mazhilis of the Parliament

In his speech, the Head of State noted that the Government had suspended its powers in connection with the election of a new composition of the Mazhilis of the Parliament. He also spoke about the work done by the Government and said that thanks to the operational measures taken, the growth of the economy of Kazakhstan by 3.2% was ensured, social obligations to citizens were fulfilled in a timely and in full manner.
According to the President, this was achieved thanks to the well-coordinated interaction of all branches of power. The Government and the Parliament will have to mobilize joint efforts in order to further develop the economy and improve the well-being of the people.
The head of state stressed that on the eve of the opening session of the Parliament, he set specific goals and outlined the priority areas of the Government’s activities.
First of all, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set the task for the Government to ensure stable economic growth of at least 4 percent per year.
The head of state called inflation control the second important issue.
In addition, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev focused on the development of infrastructure, the implementation of an effective territorial policy, the consistent and systematic improvement of the quality of human capital, and the modernization of the state apparatus.
The President said that after discussing the candidacy of the Prime Minister with the leaders of the party factions in the Mazhilis, a common opinion was reached in general. In accordance with Article 44 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Head of State proposed the candidacy of Alikhan Smailov for the post of Prime Minister.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude to the deputies of the Majilis for supporting his candidacy.
