President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Prosecutor General Berik Asylov

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the state of the rule of law in the country and the results of supervisory activities in priority areas over the past period.
Berik Asylov reported on the investigation of a criminal case on the fact of a fire in the Abay region. An interdepartmental investigative-operational group has been created from among experienced employees of law enforcement and special agencies under the leadership of the Deputy Prosecutor General. Based on the results of the investigation, a legal assessment will be given to the actions and inaction of officials.
The head of state was also informed about the results of the investigation of high-profile criminal cases and work to protect public interests. According to the results of inspections in the socio-economic sphere, 11,000 persons were brought to various types of liability, after carrying out investigative actions, 10 billion tenge was reimbursed to the budget. The interests of the state in the amount of 15.2 billion tenge were protected in courts.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was separately reported on the progress in fulfilling his instructions to protect business and support significant investment projects. In particular, at the initiative of the General Prosecutor’s Office, 9 orders of various ministries were canceled, which provided for illegal inspections of almost 2,000 entrepreneurs. Also, 21,000 tax orders for the recovery of 2.5 billion tenge were declared illegal.
In addition, the Head of State was informed about the crime situation and measures taken to respect the constitutional rights of citizens in the criminal law sphere.
Following the meeting, the President pointed out the importance of an objective investigation of all the circumstances of the fire in the Abay region and gave a number of specific instructions to ensure the rule of law in all spheres of the social and economic life of the country.
