Opening of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Xi’an

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Xi’an.
This event was the final in the program of his state visit to China.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for assistance in opening a diplomatic mission of our country. The Decree on the establishment of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in a large industrial, historical and cultural region of the PRC was signed by the President on November 5, 2022. The consular district, which will be provided by Kazakh diplomats, includes the provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Hubei, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the city of Chongqing with a total population of 246 million people.
The consulate building, along with the diplomatic corps, will also house representative offices of national companies to promote the economic interests of Kazakhstan.
Member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Qin Gang took part in the opening ceremony and congratulated the participants of the event on behalf of the Chinese Government. According to him, the establishment of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Xi’an indicates that bilateral cooperation is reaching a new level. Kazakhstan is the only country in Central Asia that has opened its diplomatic representation in Shaanxi province.
