Oceanman world launch will be held in Kazakhstan

On July 2 and 3, 2022, an international sporting event from a series of open water swims Oceanman Kazakhstan will be held in  Kazakhstan for the first time

This event is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee of the Tourism Industry, the Almaty Region Akimat and the Capital Water Sports Federation.

Oceanman Kazakhstan this year will be held at the Kapchagay reservoir on July 2 and 3, 2022. 1200 people from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey will take part in the competition. This is the most massive long-distance open water start in the history of Kazakhstan, bringing together both professional athletes and amateurs.

Participants are offered 4 distances.

Many beginners in open water swimming have registered for the 1.5 km course – there are 325 swimmers in total. About 200 children will compete at a distance of 800 m. These starts will take place on July 2.

The most massive distance is 5 km, 450 participants are registered to participate in this discipline. Full Oceanman – 10 km – will sail 225 people. These starts will take place on July 3rd.

Oceanman is several starts in different parts of the world annually, combined into a championship. This competition takes its start in 2015 in Spain, since then open water swims have been held in the most beautiful corners of the planet – in Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Turkey, Russia, Greece, France, Ukraine, Switzerland, Thailand, Cyprus and Colombia. Thus, Oceanman is like a round-the-world trip, and now Kazakhstan will be included in its route.

Oceanman is a kind of analogue of the Ironman movement. However, its difference is that here the participants demonstrate their capabilities, overcoming the water element in open water. The main feature of this championship is its openness. It brings together thousands of people who swim side by side – these are people from different countries, of all ages and professions, of different physical fitness, with different goals and motivations.

Previously, Kazakhstanis have participated in Oceanman swims more than once, but it was not yet possible to call our team numerous. In order to make this championship as accessible as possible for all swimming enthusiasts from our country – without expensive flights, difficult visas and language barriers – the organizers of the Oceanman Kazakhstan starts had to work hard. By the way, Kazakhstan has become the second landlocked country (after Switzerland) to host Oceanman.

According to the organizers, Kazakhstanis actively responded to the opportunity to participate in the swims, and Oceanman Kazakhstan became the most massive start of the series over the past three years. This once again clearly confirms that mass sports and a healthy lifestyle are not empty words for our compatriots.
