NJSC “State Center for Support of National Cinema” Center during the quarantine
Despite the raging Covid-19 pandemic, both in Kazakhstan and around the world, the Cinema Center team was able to continue working in a number of areas.
The most important strategic decision of the last month was the joining of efforts and the intensification of joint work with the Kazakhfilm studio aimed at supporting and developing the domestic film industry. Gulnara Sarsenova, chairman of the board of the State Center for National Culture , and Akan Satayev, the new president of Kazakhfilm, announced it.
No less significant for the entire film community was the holding, at the initiative of Aktota Raimkulova, a Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a zoom conference dedicated to the state of cinema in the context of global quarantine restrictions.
This time the educational focus of the Cinema Center’s work was supported by the Goethe-Institut, together with it a competition was announced for participation in the workshop of Dmitry Popov, the German film expert.
In terms of international activities, the State Center for Education and Research took part in the film market of the Cannes Film Festival Marché du Film, which was held online for the first time. In addition, the Cinema Center participated in the first online conference on co-production within the international Key Buyers Event market: Digital Edition and presented the possibilities of Kazakhstan at the largest Asian film and television forum FICCI FRAMES.
