Mukhtar Tleuberdy, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan took part in the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdy took part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which was held in a video conference format.
During the meeting, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the CSTO member states exchanged positions on the international and regional environment, discussed the current situation and development prospects of the Organization.
Special attention was paid to the situation associated with the spread of coronavirus infection and the measures taken to contain and counter this threat.
The Head of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan informed his colleagues about the position of Kazakhstan in the relevant areas of the CSTO, made a number of proposals to further progressive and harmonious development of the Organization.
The CSTO Ministers of Foreign Affairs adopted a Statement of Confirmation of Commitment to the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter. The document emphasizes the commitment of the CSTO countries to maintain and strengthen a world order based on the UN Charter.
In addition, statements were made by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on the support of the UN Secretary General’s appeal for a global ceasefire in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as on solidarity and mutual assistance in the fight against coronavirus infection.
Traditionally, the special attention of the ministers was given to practical measures to counter current challenges and threats, and, above all, international terrorism.
The heads of the foreign affairs agencies also agreed on the annual Plan of expert consultations in all areas of the Organization’s development, as well as the draft Decision of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO “On the allocation of quota posts in the CSTO Secretariat.”
The documents adopted at the end of the meeting aimed at further strengthening the Organization once again demonstrated the openness of the CSTO and its positive attitude towards expanding cooperation with other countries and international structures.
The next meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in the 4th quarter of 2020 in the Russian Federation, on the eve of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
As you know, in addition to Kazakhstan, the Organization also includes Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
