More than 206 thousand people received payments from the State Social Insurance Fund due to job loss

As of December 1, 2023, the number of recipients of social payments in the event of job loss from the State Social Insurance Fund (hereinafter referred to as the SSIF) amounted to 206.6 thousand people, while 186 thousand citizens were awarded payments this year. The total amount of payments amounted to 44.5 billion tenge.

In accordance with current legislation, dismissed employees receive social benefits for job loss from 1 to 6 months, depending on the length of participation in the compulsory social insurance system and income for the last 24 months. The payment is made at the expense of the State Social Insurance Fund in the amount of up to 45% of lost income.

To assign payment to a dismissed employee, you must:

– log in to the eGov.kz portal;

– in the “Employment ” section, select the “Registration of Job Seekers” service;

– order the service online, filling out all the fields, and send the application, signing it with an electronic signature;

– within one day, the career center (hereinafter referred to as the CC) at the applicant’s place of residence will offer vacancies;

– if a job is not found, within 3 working days the status of unemployed will be remotely assigned (if necessary, a CC employee will contact the applicant to collect additional information).

This service can also be obtained online through the Electronic Labor Exchange (enbek.kz).

If there is information about registration as an unemployed person, the information system of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will send an SMS message to the mobile phone confirming the consent to provide the service for assigning payment from the State Social Insurance Fund in a proactive format. If you agree, you must respond to the SMS message. The payment will be assigned automatically.

Let us remind you that social benefits in case of job loss from the State Social Insurance Fund are provided regardless of the reasons for dismissal and are intended to support an unemployed person during the period when he is looking for work.

In order to implement the order of the Head of State, voiced in the Address to the People of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2022, the replacement rate for lost income has been increased from January 1, 2023 from 40% to 45%. At the same time, the current procedure for assigning payments has been preserved and applies only to participants in the social insurance system who have lost their jobs and received unemployed status.

The increase in the amount of social benefits for job loss also affected existing recipients as of January 1, 2023, which was made automatically.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan launched functionality for the remote provision of services to employment centers through the Electronic Labor Exchange.

This made it possible to simplify the procedures for registering the unemployed and receiving government services to support employment, including social benefits for job loss. Now everything can be done with only the Internet, a computer and an electronic digital signature.
