More than 14 thousand foreign citizens are working in Kazakhstan

As of April 1, 2021, with the permission of local executive bodies, 14,794 foreign citizens are working on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Among the permits for attracting foreign labor (hereinafter referred to as IRS) there are the following categories: 648 permits for the first (managers and their deputies), 3,240 for the second category (heads of structural divisions). The main part of the involved labor force belongs to the third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories – 7 397 and 491 people, respectively. Also involved in seasonal work – 1,329 people, and within the framework of corporate transfer – 1,689 people.

Currently, there are 1,641 employers in Kazakhstan using IRS. More than 489 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan work for them, which is 97% of the total number of employees.

The main countries of origin of labor migrants are China – 3,617 people, Turkey – 1,490 people, India – 1,098 people, Great Britain – 947 people, Uzbekistan – 1,369 people.

Recall that in order to protect the internal labor market, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually sets a quota for attracting foreign specialists to the republic. In 2021, the size of the quota was 0.31% of the labor force, or 29.3 thousand units.
