Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Askar Shakirov, the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, hosted the third meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies JSC (IVI JSC).

During the meeting, A. Shakirov noted that the effectiveness of scientific and analytical support of the country’s foreign policy primarily depends on the timeliness and relevance of the problems studied in the direct context of modern challenges and strategic interests of Kazakhstan. The starting point of this process is the Foreign Policy Concept of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2030, other program documents related to the objectives of President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.

The course of the implementation of the Institute’s development plan for the coming years was discussed, changes in its organizational structure were approved, and priority areas of research work were identified.

In turn, Mukhtar Tleuberdy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized that the Institute was created pursuant to the order of the Head of State. The goal is to organize a qualitative study of foreign policy processes in conditions of instability and exacerbation of contradictions between leading global players, as well as to strengthen the entire range of information and analytical work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to systematize the study of foreign policy issues. The Minister also thanked the Board of Directors for the work done and wished further success.

Since the beginning of this year, IVI JSC has prepared 45 information and analytical materials, of which more than half have been sent to the Presidential Administration, the Office of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy and the Prime Minister. In addition, the Institute’s products found demand among the structural divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in developing practical recommendations for implementing priority areas of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy, identifying current trends in world politics and economics, and in the field of national and international security.
