Winners of the 12th MKF “Eurasia”
On September 30 in Almaty the closing ceremony of the 12th International Eurasia Film Festival has taken place
Within MKF Eurasia and the Almaty MKF “Shaken’s Constellation” winners have been declared.
The award “Tulpar” founded by National academy of cinema arts and sciences which has opened this year has been for the first time handed. More than hundred Kazakhstan figures of cinema and experts became members of academy. Winners in eight nominations have been chosen from 13 Kazakhstan movies created for the last year during ballot. The best movie of Central Asia has got one more award.
It was entrusted only to independent auditor company to watch results until opening of envelopes and delivery of the figurines executed by the Empire company in the form of a winged racer with a gold dusting.
13 pictures, from them three domestic productions have entered the main competition. The Russian director Valery Todorovsky became the chairman of jury of the main competition, also judiciary board was made by such famous figures of cinema as Reza Mirkarimi (Iran), Ning Ying (China), Aktan Arym Kubat (Kyrgyzstan), Doskhan Zholzhaksynov (Kazakhstan), Grimur Hakonarson (Iceland). The Eurasia film festival this year has got a separate competition of short meter which final was reached by 15 movies, from them 5 – Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan director Darezhan Omirbayev became the chairman of jury of short meter, film critics Caroline Vaydner (Germany), Asiya Baygozhina (Kazakhstan), Oleg Baturin (Ukraine), jury of NETPAC-of association on support and development of Asian cinema were a part of jury of FIPRESCI-of the international federation of the film press, the director Sanni Joseph (India), a kinoeurnalist Francis Joseph Cruz (Philippines) and the film expert Bauyrzhan Nogerbek (Kazakhstan) have formed. Also within the festival there has taken place the competition of children’s movies “Children’s Eurasia”, the Kazakhstan works didn’t participate in him.
By recognition of the CEO of MKF “Eurasia” Rasheed Nugmanov, this year the festival at all modesty of the budget and asceticism has paid attention to important dates for domestic cinema: opening anniversary in Alma-Ata during the Second World War of the Central integrated film studio under the leadership of Sergey Eisenstein, Sharip Beysembayev’s 90 anniversary, film screenings were held on the open areas of the city in cafe and restaurants where classics of the Kazakh cinema since creation of the movie of Amangelda was shown.
The picture Rusudan Glurdzhidze (Georgia-Russia-Croatia-Spain) “The house of strangers” narrating about the people who have appeared in epicenter of the military conflict in Abkhazia became the owner of the Grand Prix of MKF “Eurasia”. The movie is nominated from Georgia to a competition of the Oscar in the nomination “The Best Movie in a Foreign Language”.
