Short films of “Kazakhfilm” will be shown in Cannes
Short films produced by the film studio “Kazakhfilm” after Sh. Aymanov will be shown within the framework of Short Film Corner program of the 71-st International Cannes Film Festival, which will be held on the Cote d’Azur from 8 to 19-th of May.
In the professional section of Cannes – in the program Short Film Corner, dedicated to short films around the world, will be shown two pictures of the studio – the films “Hide and seek” and “Asan”. The purpose of this section is to provide accessible communication between professionals in the field of film business, to create contact between young filmmakers, producers and distributors from all over the world. Participation in the program increases the chances of the film being selected for international film festivals, and also to find potential international partners and distributors.
This year Short Film Corner received more than 2000 applications from directors from all over the world, which confirms the ever growing interest in the genre of the short film.
It is worth noting that the paintings “Hide and seek” and “Asan” won the script of short films, conducted in 2017 by the Creative and Production Association “Debut” at the film studio “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov and were put into production.
Short film “Hide and seek” directed by Venus Kairzhanova tells of two little girls who are witnessing adult problems. Trying to avoid this, they play hide and seek in the street and hide from everyone in their children’s world.
The film received a special prize named after Gregory Frank “For originality” (sound engineer Koishin Kanay) at the 5th international sound engineers festival “Intonation” in St. Petersburg.
In the film “Asan” Berik Zhahanov tells about a young man going to the funeral of his father, whom he had not seen for many years.
