Kazakhstani producers earned $ 2 million from the export of leather
“For five months of 2021, export proceeds from the sale of domestic tanned leather and leather crust from cattle skins reached $ 2.4 million, which is 73.3% higher than of the same period last year, “the press service of Kazakhstan Industry Center JSC and export ” reports.
According to the specialists of the Kazakhstani Center for Industry and Export QazIndustry JSC of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, tanning and leather processing enterprises are located in 11 regions of the country.
In particular, most of the enterprises in this industry are concentrated in Shymkent (7 enterprises). Manufacturers are also noted in Almaty, Kostanay, Zhambyl, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan regions and in the cities of republican significance Nur-Sultan and Almaty. Today in Kazakhstan tanning and dressing of leather is carried out by 1 medium-sized enterprise (Almaty Tannery LLP) and 27 small businesses (KazItalKozha LLP, Semey Tannery LLP KazakhLiderMech LLP, Petropavlovsk Tannery LLP, LLP Taraz Tannery, Turan Skin LLP, Kamshat-Asel LLP, etc.).
The volume of leather production from cattle skins for 6 months of 2021 amounted to 54 million square meters. dm., which is higher than the same period last year by 15.2%. On the local market, domestic leather is purchased in small quantities by domestic manufacturers of footwear (mainly for military and special footwear) and leather goods (bags, belts), the rest is exported.
The main buyers of Kazakh leather were countries such as China, India, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and Spain.
