KAZAKHSTAN MINISTERIAL SESSION AT THE SITE OF THE WORLD PETROLEUM CONGRESS

Kazakhstan ministerial session at the World Petroleum Congress

A ministerial session “Foreign direct investment in the energy sector of Kazakhstan” was held on September 19, in Calgary (Canada), as part of the 24th World Petroleum Congress.

The session was attended by the Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Bulat Zakirov, Senior Vice President for Traditional and Heavy Oil Resources at ExxonMobil Upstream John Whelan, as well as General Manager for Government and Public Relations Tengizchevroil LLP Darmen Aronov.

Representative of the leadership of WPC Energy (World Petroleum Council) D. Sarsenov thanked the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for consistent support for the activities of WPC Energy in Kazakhstan, and noted that for 15 years the National Committee of Kazakhstan has implemented a number of initiatives to introduce best international practices.
President of WPC Energy Pedro Miras in October 2022, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Alikhan Smailov in Astana, noted that Kazakhstan is one of the five member countries of the Organization represented in all governing bodies and committees.
Dzhambulat Sarsenov especially noted that the World Petroleum Council, in turn, highly appreciates the professionalism and responsible approach of Kazakh specialists, the attentive attitude and support of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and the KAZENERGY Association and expresses sincere hope for strengthening cooperation at the updated WPC Energy site.
The Kazakhstan session aroused great interest among Congress delegates, bringing together more than 200 representatives of foreign industry ministries, the world’s largest oil and gas corporations and national companies. In particular, the session was attended by the President of WPC Energy Pedro Miras, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Romania Pavel-Casian Nitsulescu, the President of CNPC Hou Chijun, the Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina Nike Vidyavati and others.
