Kazakhstan expands investment cooperation with leading Turkish holdings

Istanbul, March 18, 2021 – On the second day of his official visit to Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi visited Istanbul, where he held a number of meetings with representatives of Turkish business circles.
During negotiations with the heads of 7 leading Turkish holdings “Koc Holding”, “Yildirim Holding”, “TAV Holding”, “Calik Holding”, “Kibar Holding”, “Atabay” and “Goknur Gida”, the issues of investment cooperation in the food industry were discussed , mechanical engineering, mining and metallurgical industry, infrastructure and information and communication technologies, chemical industry and pharmaceuticals.
The Foreign Minister said that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of trade, economic and investment ties with Turkey. “We are ready to provide comprehensive support to Turkish investors. Each project is of particular importance for the development of our state and further expansion of the Kazakh-Turkish strategic partnership, ”M. Tleuberdi said.
In turn, the heads of Turkey’s leading holdings stressed that Kazakhstan is an investment attractive state for them and voiced specific proposals for the implementation of their projects in Kazakhstan. In particular, these proposals included increasing the types of investment preferences, solving infrastructure issues, further improving the work of industrial and special economic zones, training and other important areas.
The volume of planned investments of these holdings in Kazakhstan in the medium term will amount to more than 1 billion US dollars.
In addition, M. Tleuberdi held a meeting with Turkish companies, which have planned to launch 10 new production facilities in Kazakhstan this year. The plans of Turkish businessmen to implement projects in the field of mechanical engineering, medical products, food industry, infrastructure, mining and housing and communal services.
Turkish companies were provided with detailed information on investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, measures taken by the state to further improve the business environment, as well as information on the most promising industries in the framework of export support, privatization and public-private partnerships. Businessmen highly appreciated the activities of the Kazakh government in support of investors and expressed gratitude for the support provided.
M. Tleuberdi also visited the new office of the Secretariat of the Turkic Council, where he discussed with the Secretary General of this organization Baghdad Amreev the preparations for the informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, which will be held on March 31 this year. in the city of Turkestan.
At the end of his visit, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the solemn ceremony of opening the bust of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai, and also visited the school that bears his name. The ceremony was attended by the governor of Istanbul Ali Yerlikaya and the mayor of Zeytunburnu district Omer Arysoy, where the school is located and the Kazakh diaspora compactly lives.
