Kazakhstan and Korea step up cooperation in healthcare

Aleksey Tsoy, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an online meeting with Mr. Ku Hong-sok,  the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan,.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the epidemiological situation in the two countries, the peculiarities of the development of the pandemic and issues of providing medical care to patients with coronavirus, topical issues of further cooperation between Kazakhstan and Korea, including the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of healthcare, medical education and science.

The Korean side shared its experience in combating COVID-19 and measures to strengthen the health system to better prepare and respond to future infectious disease outbreaks.

According to Alexei Tsoy, international cooperation and mutual support are of great importance in the fight against COVID-19. Korea has a good track record of dealing with the coronavirus, so the collaboration will help address a number of challenges posed by the pandemic, especially in sharing knowledge and best practices in COVID-19 control.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the further development of Kazakh-Korean cooperation in the field of health care, in particular on conducting training seminars for specialists online on methodology and forecasting the situation on COVID-19, modeling the situation, etc. The parties also decided on the strategic development of bilateral cooperation in the short, medium and long term, which will undoubtedly give impetus to further mutually beneficial partnership.
