Initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan will be presented at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly
ASTANA, September 18, 2017 – On September 19, the general debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly will begin at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The event is traditionally attended by heads of state and government, foreign ministers and high representatives of UN member states, heads of regional international organizations, prominent politicians and diplomats.
The theme of the discussions of the 72nd session is “Particular attention to people: in an effort to ensure peace and a dignified life for all on a viable planet”.
Kazakhstan is represented at the debate by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov. The Foreign Minister will familiarize the UN member states with the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, put forward during the opening of the Bank of Low Enriched Uranium and the Astana Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Science and Technology, will explain Kazakhstan’s position on key issues of global and regional security. The Minister will talk about the results and legacies of the international exhibition EXPO-2017, as well as the modernization processes in the political, economic and spiritual life of the country.
In addition, the purpose of the visit of the Kazakh delegation in New York is to conduct a series of bilateral and multilateral consultations, as well as preparations for the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council in January 2018.
