“In the Almaty region, it is planned to build 2 plants for the processing of solid waste”

In the Almaty region, to resolve the issue of processing solid waste until 2023, it is planned to build 2 plants for the processing of organic and solid domestic waste in the Ili district. This was announced by Amandyk Batalov during a briefing at the CCS site, answering the journalist’s questions about solving the problem of waste processing, – the press service of the akim of Almaty region reports.

As it became known, this is the construction of a full cycle waste processing plant using the Meriolysis technology in conjunction with the Kazakh-Spanish company Waste Energy Kazakhstan LLP with a capacity of 120 thousand tons per year. The total investment is 41.8 million euros. And the construction of a waste recycling plant LLP “ZORBIOGAZ” with a capacity of 100 thousand tons per year, which provides for the technology of complete processing of organic waste to obtain biogas with its subsequent combustion to generate electricity, as well as biocarbon and fertilizers. The total investment is 7.5 million euros. For these projects, contracts were concluded with the Settlement and Financial Center LLP for the Support of Renewable Energy Sources. An agreement was also reached with the French company SUEZ on the construction of a modern solid waste landfill. Negotiations are underway with the EBRD on the implementation of the project. “We are dealing with the problem of waste recycling, we allocate funds. During the EXPO held in the capital, we signed an agreement with foreign companies. For example, we are planning to build two waste processing plants: one with a capacity of 120 thousand tons together with a Spanish company, the second – 100 thousand tons. As of today, almost all issues have been resolved. Also, so that there is no spontaneous garbage disposal, together with a French company, we want to build two modern solid waste landfills. One is in the area near Almaty, and the second is in the Taldykorgan region. These are modern landfills, in the future they will be engaged in waste processing to obtain biogas. Such are our plans and this work is under constant control. The initial stage is sorting, warehousing, installation of container yards, and more. This work is already underway in the districts and cities of our region, ”said Amandyk Batalov during the briefing. By the way, according to the feasibility study “Regional waste management system of Almaty region” the region is divided into 14 territorial complexes, of which 3 are inter-district and 11 – district. The implementation of this project will open 500 new jobs and achieve by 2025 100% coverage of the region’s population with organized MSW removal, bring the recovery of secondary materials to 30%, and by 2025 will allow to achieve 90% of waste disposal, reduce the number of landfills to 16. Already in Within the framework of this project, there are 3 waste sorting stations in the region with a design capacity of 330 thousand tons, which are located in the regional center, Panfilov and Ili districts. 540.0 million tenge of investments were attracted for the construction of these stations.
