Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister and British Minister of State held a meeting in Astana
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov met with the Minister of State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for European and American affairs, Sir Alan Duncan.
During the conversation, the interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the context of the strategic partnership established between our countries. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the agreements reached in the field of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The successful cooperation in launching the International Financial Center Astana was noted with satisfaction. The British politician congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful holding of EXPO-2017. It is noteworthy that the British pavilion in Astana clearly demonstrates the contribution of this country to the development of the energy of the future.
Taking into account the non-permanent membership of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council and the upcoming chairmanship of the country in this important international structure in January 2018, special attention was paid to exchanging views on the most pressing issues on the international agenda. The parties considered the situation in Syria in detail, including various aspects of the Astana process, supported by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The attention of the British side is drawn to the global initiatives of the head of the state of Kazakhstan, which were announced at the opening ceremony of the Bank of Low Enriched Uranium, and are aimed at strengthening international peace and security through nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation and the banning of nuclear weapons tests.
Also discussed is a schedule of forthcoming bilateral meetings and events at various levels and an election process in a number of international structures.
