Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a visiting session at the film studio “Kazakhfilm”
In Almaty, a visiting session of the Committee for Social and Cultural Development and Science of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with representatives of the national film industry was held at the Kazakhfilm film studio named after Shaken Aimanov. The bill “On Cinematography” was discussed at the meeting.
Opening the event, the chairman of the Committee, Byrganym Aitimova, stressed that “cinema is one of the most important tools of moral education, the inculcation of ideological values in society, the driving factor of intellectual and cultural development.” B. Aitimova also said that the senators intend to study the current state and problems of the national cinema, the prospects for improving the quality and competitiveness of national films, the issues of accessibility of film screening services for the public, the transparency and attractiveness of the film industry, the growth of prestige and recognition of Kazakh cinema abroad.
Directors, actors and producers told the senators about the specifics of their work and supported the need for a special law on cinema. In particular, the director Rustem Abdrashov noted the importance of creating a fund for supporting national cinema. The film distributor Bauyrzhan Shukenov spoke about the issues of legal regulation in the field of cinematography and the accessibility of cinematographic services to citizens in cities and rural settlements. Within the framework of the visit, the deputies visited the Kazakhfilm studio, visited the shooting pavilions and got acquainted with the technical equipment. During the tour the deputies were told about the peculiarities of the process of creating films and provided information on the history of making films that were included in the gold fund of the art of Kazakhstan.
