Sayasat Nurbek discussed with the US ChargĂ© d’Affaires in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Judy Kuo, the priorities of cooperation in the field of knowledge.

Sayasat Nurbek shared his vision of the development of university science and outlined the main goals, the fulfillment of which will largely determine the success of the work of the new ministry – this is an increase in spending on financing science and raising the prestige of the profession of a scientist.

– We must revive interest in science among young people, create an effective scientific environment in universities. For this, we are ready to implement the best world practices, – said Sayasat Nurbek.

Among the key projects that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education is working on, Sayasat Nurbek noted the placement of 500 Kazakh scientists for internships in the best universities in the world, as well as the opening of 5 branches of world-class universities in Kazakhstan. One of these projects is the branch of the University of Arizona in Petropavlovsk, which will accept the first students in September. According to the US Charge d’Affaires in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the opening of a branch of an American university can be a good example of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in the field of higher education and science.

– We propose to create a working group, which will include representatives of Kazakhstan and the United States to discuss the implementation of the Fulbright program in Kazakhstan, – suggested Judy Kuo.

The Fulbright Program was founded in 1946 to promote mutual understanding between the American people and people from around the world. It is aimed at improving the qualifications of school teachers, a student exchange program, stimulating interest in science, engineering and mathematics among high school girls, as well as developing female leadership among student youth.
