Celebrating International Day of the Elderly

As part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons, the Ministry of Labor will hold events and actions in the country to support citizens of the older generation

International Day of Older Persons is celebrated annually on October 1 This year, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the MLSPP of the Republic of Kazakhstan) has developed a Plan of events timed to this holiday, which will be held throughout the month.

The Plan includes festive and celebratory events, promotions, projects to provide charitable assistance and improve housing conditions, etc.

“For example, in outpatient and polyclinic organizations, there will be open doors for the elderly and people with disabilities. Visitors will be able to undergo examination and consult with doctors. As part of the charitable action “From Heart to Heart”, critically ill elderly people will receive food packages. Other assistance will also be provided, ”said Yerlan Aukenov, Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

So, according to him, to improve the living conditions of elderly people living alone, war veterans and home front workers, apartment renovations will be carried out, with a priority on fixing electrical appliances, gas pipes and plumbing, etc.

Agricultural fairs at preferential prices with the participation of producers will be held every weekend in October.

All actions and events in Kazakhstan will be held with the obligatory observance of social distance and quarantine security measures.

Work on improving the quality of life of older people in the country of the MLSPP is carried out on a systematic basis.

“We have developed a Draft National Plan“ Active Longevity ”, which includes about 40 events. As part of this plan, it is planned to open centers for Active Longevity in all regions of the country, where older people can spend their leisure time: learn English, take computer literacy courses, exercise therapy, dance, etc. So we will be able to improve the psycho-emotional state of the elderly and help them to be more actively involved in society, ”concluded the Vice Minister.
