ATAMEKEN IS READY TO COOPERATE WITH UNDP ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
October 13, 2022
Representatives of UNDP and NCE RK “Atameken” discussed the possibilities of cooperation in terms of regional development.
And about. Resident Representative of the UN Development Program in Kazakhstan Sukhrob Khodjimatov spoke about plans to conduct a study on the development of newly created regions: Ulytau, Zhetysu and Abay regions as part of the Mayors for Economic Growth Facility program.

The M4EG initiative offers resources, learning and networking opportunities to explore new growth trajectories to make cities and towns more attractive to people and investment.

“We are already developing a task for the Institute of Economic Research, and as soon as it is ready, work will begin. We want to make a mission after it, go and see the niches that aspiring entrepreneurs could fill. Together with our partners from the EU, we hope that within the framework of this project, the cities of Kazakhstan will be able to realize their plans for the benefit of the population,” the speaker said.

According to him, today it is in the hands of the heads of akimats that the solution to the problem of increasing the level of employment, restoring and accelerating the process of sustainable growth is in the hands.

“The Chamber of Entrepreneurs is a union of entrepreneurs, and we see this as an information resource. On the one hand, you receive feedback from businesses, on the other hand, you are aware of the problems and opportunities for business development in the regions,” Sukhrob Khodjimatov emphasized.

“This is a good initiative, I think that it will be possible to give objective information to entrepreneurs, as world trends are changing and everyone should be able to find their niche. For example, Kazakhstan can indeed become a serious food factory, but it is necessary to take into account the mistakes of Europe: the loss of humus, water and issues of renewable energy sources. We are glad that your organization has decided to deal with this issue, as international institutions look not only for strengths, but also take into account the problems mentioned above. We are open to cooperation and will help with the necessary information,” said Maksat Kikimov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Atameken NCE RK.

In addition, he noted that the President of the country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on trips to the regions of the country, repeatedly emphasized that the true power of the state is laid in the regions.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the further development of Women’s Entrepreneurship Development Centers.
