Hideki Yanase, Vice President of Toyota Tsusho Corporation became Honorary Consul
As you know, “Toyota Tsusho Corporation” is a global company and a member of the Toyota Group, a trading company. The Company markets automobiles, trucks, steel products, industrial machinery, chemical products, and energy in both domestic and overseas markets. Toyota Tsusho primarily exports cars to Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Considering the strategic importance of Toyota Tsusho Corporation and in order to further strengthen bilateral business contacts and develop cultural and humanitarian ties, on September 3, 2020, a ceremony was held in Tokyo to appoint Hideki Yanase, Vice President of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in the Chubu region. The consular patent was awarded by Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhataev, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan.
The head office of Toyota Tsusho Corporation is located in Nagoya, the administrative center of the Chubu region, which is the country’s leading industrial hub and production base. The region’s economy, based on a wide range of industries such as automotive, mechanical engineering, metalworking, and electrical engineering, accounts for about 20% of Japan’s GDP.
During the ceremony, in accordance with the signed agreement, a number of specific measures were identified to enhance investment cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, the Honorary Consul confirmed his intention to make efforts to establish investment and technological cooperation between Japan and Kazakhstan, taking into account the potential of the region, stressing that the business qualities and work experience of H. Yanase will adequately fulfill the functions of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Currently, there are 3 honorary consulates of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan in the regions of Kyushu, Kansai, and Chubu.
Despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, bilateral trade between the two states in January-June of the current year amounted to $ 805 million (at the level of 2019), while Kazakhstani exports reached $ 550 million, showing an increase of 16% compared to the same period of the last year.
