The “Zhambyl. Zhana dauir “film was launched into production with the assistance of the State Center for Support of National Cinema by order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The film is dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Zhambyl Zhabayev, the outstanding poet-akyn . The film crew is headed by Zhandos Kusainov, director. His creative baggage includes work on the”Uli” and “Shabdaly” feature films, as well as the “Zhaқsy Adam” and “Koke” series.

The plot of the future picture is based on the confrontation between the poet and the Soviet ideological machine. The tape will highlight the significant events that influenced the life of Zhambyl: the gathering of akyns, the publication of the poet’s poems in newspapers and magazines, the arrival of Joseph Gilman from Moscow, Zhabayev’s meetings with Oraz Zhandosov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, and other prominent figures of the time.

Doszhan Zhanbotaev, Kazakhstan People’s Artist plays the main role. Doskhan Zholzhaksynov, People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erik Zholzhaksynov and Bekbolat Tleukhan, Honored Artists,  Nurken Uteulov, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, actors Asan Mazhit, Kazhymukan Kalymbet and Yerzhan Nurymbet are also participating in the film.

The main filming locations are Almaty and Almaty region. The director of photography is Erkinbek Ptyraliev (“Fight of Atbai”, “Yellow Cat”). In the current year, the creators plan to work out 32 filming shifts. The main scenes, including the large-scale scenes of the film, will be filmed next year.

The painting was put into production by the Public Foundation for Culture and Support of Creative Initiatives. The authors hope that this unique and spectacular film about the life and work of the legendary Zhambyl Zhabayev will be of interest not only to Kazakhstanis but also to foreign audience.

Let us remind you that this is not the first feature film about Zhambyl. In 1952, the director Yefim Dzigan shot a Dzhambul movie at the Kazakhfilm studio, where the main role was played by Shaken Kenzhetayevich Aimanov.
