More than 16 thousand persons with disabilities received prosthetic and orthopedic services in 2021

“Since the beginning of this year, through the Portal of Social Services (hereinafter referred to as the Portal), more than 16 thousand persons with disabilities have received prosthetic and orthopedic assistance services based on individual rehabilitation programs developed in accordance with medical and social indications and contraindications,” the press  service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

The above services include the provision of prostheses, walkers, canes, crutches, orthopedic shoes, bandages, corsets, braces, reclinators, head supports, instep supports, treatment belts, children’s preventive pants, etc. The portal allows persons with disabilities to choose their own manufacturer and service provider. The order of the type of assistance is carried out by confirming the electronic digital signature of the service recipient. You can receive an order by delivery or self-pickup. In addition to prosthetic and orthopedic services, on the Portal, you can apply for deaf-technical, typhlo-technical and hygienic means, as well as wheelchairs. Since the beginning of the current year through the Social Services Portal, more than 113 thousand persons with disabilities received technical means of rehabilitation, more than 6 thousand – sign language services, over 31 thousand – services of an individual assistant, about 36 thousand – spa treatment, and more than 122 thousand. orders for guaranteed social packages.

To date, 859 medical and social institutions (departments) providing special social services, 127 TSW providers, more than 13 thousand providers of individual assistant services, 250 sign languages, 66 sanatorium-resort treatment, 135 providers of a guaranteed social package are registered on the Portal.

Since December 29, 2020, on the eGov.kz portal, an opportunity has been implemented for persons with disabilities to submit an electronic application for the provision of public services of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During this period, more than 110.5 thousand documents were issued through the e-government portal for the provision of rehabilitation means and services. The introduction of the “Portal of Social Services” automated information system  is envisaged within the framework of the National Plan for Ensuring the Rights and Improving the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities.
