GERMAN “CLAAS” WILL OPEN A PLANT IN KAZAKHSTAN

Today, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed an Agreement on industrial assembly with CLAAS, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, the German company.
Industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany was initiated by the Head of State during a working meeting with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the CLAAS Group K. Klaas-Mühlhauser during the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Germany in December 2019. Following the visit, a special working group under the leadership of Roman Sklyar, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The development of a project for organizing the production of agricultural machinery on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan was carried out by the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany, “ Kazakh Invest “NC”JSC  and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
CLAAS is the flagship of the global agricultural machinery industry and the largest European manufacturer of agricultural machinery. The entry of a renowned German company into Kazakhstan is a landmark event for all domestic farmers who have long needed affordable high-performance equipment.
The signing of the Agreement, taking into account the current realities of the pandemic, took place via video communication. Amaniyaz Yerzhanov, Vice-Minister endorsed the document on behalf of the ministry, the German side was represented by Nils Reutsch, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and of the  CLAAS CIS.

The new plant will be located in the North Kazakhstan region. At the first stage, the production of the TUCANO harvester will be established here, including the installation of specialized equipment and the training of technical personnel.
The project will be implemented jointly with the official representative of CLAAS in Kazakhstan, ST-Agro company. The volume of investments in the regional economy will amount to about 3.4 billion tenge, the source of financing is the German company’s own funds. At the initial stage, about 200 new jobs will be created.

We see great potential in the Republic of Kazakhstan and therefore we plan to build long-term, fruitful, and mutually beneficial cooperation, “Niels Roitsch emphasized.
Under the Agreement, the company will gradually increase the localization of components, as well as engage in technical training for further development of production.
Upon reaching the design capacity, the enterprise will produce up to 200 units of agricultural machinery (harvesters, tractors, and seeding complexes) per year, which will qualitatively improve the situation with the renewal of the machine and tractor fleet in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
CLAAS is included in the list of world-renowned agricultural machinery manufacturers implementing production in Kazakhstan, such as PÖTTINGER, LOVOL, BUHLER, Rostselmash, Petersburg Tractor Plant, MTZ, Gomselmash, etc. , fully complies with the country’s program of import substitution, covering all the needs of farmers.
It should be noted that this work was carried out due to the verified industrial policy of the state in terms of the development of the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan.
