President Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev took part in the conference “Sustainable Development and Security in the Eurasian Space.”

In his speech, the head of state noted that in the context of unprecedented geopolitical instability, the role of diplomacy becomes decisive.

– Against the backdrop of a deep transformation of geopolitics and geoeconomics, global climatic and demographic challenges, threats of new pandemics, growing arms race, technological progress, including the introduction of artificial intelligence, issues of strategic stability and sustainable development gain paramount importance for all of us. The conclusion is obvious – the international community needs discharge, in a new positive agenda to resume constructive dialogue. Therefore, the idea of a holistic, indivisible Eurasian security can be a conceptual basis for building a multipolar fair and stable world order, ”said Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev.

Further, the head of state informed the conference participants on the implementation of the course in Kazakhstan to large -scale transformations of all spheres of public life. In his opinion, the fundamental innovation of political reforms was the consolidation of the Regulation on the restriction of the president’s mandate with a single seven -year period.

– There is no such norm in any country of the so -called “post -Soviet space” and even beyond. One seven -year presidential term, in my opinion, is sufficient to implement the election platform and reform, based on the fact that the president is still a state manager hired by the people. I am convinced that in our country the dictatorship of the law and order should reign. This is the only way to provide proper conditions for the further implementation of reforms, as well as attracting investments to the economy of Kazakhstan. The law and order are the basis for the construction of fair Kazakhstan. The request for justice was everywhere and always, and Kazakhstan is no exception. All our reforms, no matter how difficult they are moving, are irreversible in nature, no one can stop them, and, moreover, to turn back, ”the head of state said.

The President also noted the important role of the field of education in strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia. According to him, more than 60 thousand students from Kazakhstan are now studying in Russia.

– Today, branches of famous Russian universities are successfully working in our country. It is planned to open the MGIMO branch in Kazakhstan, ”said Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev.

During the plenary meeting, the assistant to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky announced the greeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the conference participants.

In his speech, the Rector of Mgima Anatoly Torkunov thanked the Kazakhstan side for organizing an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the University.

“It was not by chance that we chose the topic of the conference, combining the traditional issues of multilateral cooperation in the field of economics and security with new challenges of the climatic agenda, dynamic stories of energy development and transport infrastructure in the Eurasian space,” Anatoly Torkunov emphasized.

The conference was attended by prominent Kazakhstani and Russian scientists, veterans of the diplomatic service, heads of state bodies and institutions, political scientists, as well as representatives of youth organizations.
