Minimum wage increased in Kazakhstan
From January 1, 2024, in order to implement the instructions of the Head of State, the minimum wage (hereinafter referred to as the minimum wage) in Kazakhstan has been increased from 70,000 to 85,000 tenge.
In accordance with the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, employers are obliged to provide employees with wages at a level not lower than the minimum wage. Thanks to this, the cash income of about 1.8 million employees with a salary of up to 85 thousand tenge, working in all industries at enterprises of various forms of ownership, including 350 thousand state employees, will increase.
First of all, the increase in the minimum wage will affect “low-paid” workers. Secondly, employers who use the minimum wage indicator when setting wage levels will also review the wages of other categories of workers taking into account the inter-category qualification system.
Let us remind you that the minimum wage is the minimum social standard in the field of labor and is established annually for the corresponding financial year by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Republican Budget”.
