President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the construction of a new passenger terminal at Korkyt Ata airport.

As regional akim Nurlybek Nalibaev reported, the terminal will be built at the expense of a private sponsor and then transferred to state ownership. The cost of the project is 20 billion tenge. Of these, 15.7 billion tenge was allocated by the sponsor. 4.3 billion tenge was allocated from the local budget for the construction of external engineering and communication infrastructure.

At the airport, which meets international standards, all conditions for serving passengers will be created. The new terminal will be commissioned next year. After commissioning the facility, the air harbor will be able to serve 250 people per hour. The number of flights to various destinations will increase.

Along with this, the regional akim noted that a modern bus station will be built in Kyzylorda at the end of this year, and a major overhaul of the railway station is also underway.

The head of state was reported on the progress of construction of the Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan highway. To date, out of 216 kilometers of the route passing through the territory of the Kyzylorda region, 104 kilometers have been completed.

The President was also informed that the section of the international highway Western Europe – Western China from the city of Kyzylorda to the border of the Aktobe region (566 km) is planned to be transferred to category I with four-lane traffic. The development of the corresponding design and estimate documentation will begin next year.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the existing road is very narrow, so work on its expansion should begin immediately. The President instructed First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar to take control of the issue.

Then the President was presented with a project for a new thermal power plant in the city of Kyzylorda.

Last year, the Ministry of Energy signed an agreement with the Turkish company Aksa Enerji Uretim AS on the construction of a new combined cycle plant in the regional center. The capacity of the new thermal power plant, built with foreign investment, will be 240 MW of electricity and 277 Gcal per hour of thermal energy. The planned cost of the project is 215 billion tenge.

According to the regional akim, preparations for construction are in full swing. The combined heat and power plant will be commissioned by the end of 2025. It will fully meet the needs of local residents for heat and electricity, and supply the excess to other regions.

The existing thermal power plant was built in 1964, the level of wear and tear of its main and auxiliary equipment reached 90%. In addition, almost half of the city’s heating networks, the total length of which is 207.7 kilometers, need modernization.

Having familiarized himself with the project, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted its importance for strengthening the country’s energy security. He instructed the Government and the Akimat to put the thermal power plant into operation within the established time frame.

Deputy Akim of the Kyzylorda region, special representative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Baikonur complex Kairat Nurtai reported to the Head of State on the situation in the city of Baikonur. As Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized, to ensure the socio-economic development of the settlement it is necessary to closely cooperate with the Russian side.
