A SESSION OF THE PUBLIC COUNCIL UNDER THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND HIGHER EDUCATION WAS HELD
Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek presented the draft Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029 for discussion by members of the Public Council and experts.
As the minister noted, work on this document has begun as part of the implementation of the messages and the election program of the Head of State. The draft Concept takes into account the long-term goals and directions of the country’s development, outlined by the Strategy “Kazakhstan-2050”, offers mechanisms for achieving indicators in the field of sustainable development.
In the project, the priority tasks for the next seven years in the field of higher education are the availability of higher education, advanced staffing, the development of digital architecture, internationalization, the development of corporate governance, the development of infrastructure, and the national model for ensuring the quality of education.
In the field of science, it is planned to introduce a new model of science administration, strengthen intellectual potential, modernize the scientific infrastructure and digitalization, develop research universities, applied science and an ecosystem for commercializing the results of scientific and scientific and technical activities.
Members of the Public Council positively noted that the document clearly outlines industry issues, takes into account national and global trends in education and science.
At the same time, as Serik Irsaliev, Chairman of the Public Council, noted, the document still needs to be finalized in terms of international practice and clarify target indicators and indicators.
For his part, Sayasat Nurbek assured the meeting participants that the ministry is open to discuss constructive proposals and called on representatives of the civil sector, experts to take an active part in the discussion of the Concept.
