The telecommunications and communications market shows outpacing growth
NACC summed up the results for the 1st half of 2022
The market of telecommunications and communications shows outstripping growth compared to the economy in the first half of this year. The revenue of enterprises for the reporting period amounted to more than 523.5 billion tenge, which is 40.3 billion tenge more than the same period in 2021. In real terms, the volume of services provided by operators increased by 7%. The revenue growth driver was Internet services. Most of the income for operators in the regional context, and this 95% of the increase was provided by the years. Almaty and Nur-Sultan.
Outsiders for a certain amount of time have become local telephone services (-17.3% yoy, to 14.6 billion tenge). At the same time, revenue from the provision of mobile communication services also shows negative figures for six months of the year, namely minus 2.5% or 122.8 billion tenge.
In terms of territories, there is a significant concentration of growth in two points – the cities of Almaty and Nur-Sultan. The volume of revenue for services rendered for half a year compared to a year ago amounted to +7.9% and 16%. In nominal terms, the increase amounted to +22.4 billion and +16.4 billion tenge, respectively, which together is 96.4% of the industry’s income growth.
In the structure of clients, the main increase in income was provided by retail (about 55% of the 40.3 billion tenge of incremental revenue). As a result, 55.2% of telecom operators’ income was provided by retail customers (289.2 billion tenge). However, the corporate sector showed more dynamic relative growth for the reporting half-year – 8.5% or +18.3 billion to 234 billion tenge.
The number of traditional communication lines for 6 months of this year decreased by 4.2% to 2.928 million units (of which 78.3% are retail customers).
At the same time, the penetration of fixed Internet increased by 4.5% per year to 2.8 million by the end of June this year. Moreover, almost 100% of them use high-speed broadband access to the World Wide Web.
In turn, the number of mobile subscribers grew by 1.4% (up to 24.5 million). Of these, 69.2% or 16.96 million subscribers have access to the Internet. The number of customers with access to mobile Internet decreased by 1.1% in June, but in the first half of the year this figure was 6% more than in 2021.
