Kazakhsta President awarded Rybakina with the Order of Dostyk II degree after winning Wimbledon
The tennis player received the Order “Dostyk” II degree for “outstanding sporting achievements and contribution to the development of international cooperation”
“By the decree of the President, for outstanding sports achievements and contribution to the development of international cooperation, the athlete-instructor of the State Enterprise “Directorate of Sports Development” of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rybakina Elena Andreevna was awarded the Order of Dostyk, II degree”
The Dostyk Order is awarded to citizens for fruitful work to maintain mutual harmony in society, merits in strengthening peace, friendship and cooperation between peoples.
Rybakina on July 9 in the final match of the London Grand Slam tournament beat Ons Jaber from Tunisia with a score of 4:6, 6:2, 6:2.
23-year-old Rybakina, ranked 23rd in the WTA rankings, became the first representative of Kazakhstan to win a Grand Slam tournament in singles.
Rybakina was born in Moscow and received Kazakh citizenship in 2018. Russian tennis players could not play at Wimbledon this year due to the decision of the tournament organizers.
