Burials of the Sarmatian era were found in the Aktobe region.
“Akim of Aktobe region Ondasyn Urazalin on Monday, August 2, met with Doctor of Historical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Architecture of Eastern Countries Serik Azhigali, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Acting Director General of the A.Kh. Margulan Institute of Archeology Talgat Mamirov. During the meeting, the sides discussed research projects implemented in the Aktobe region within the framework of the project “Sacred places of Kazakhstan”. Scientists presented to the regional akim unique finds discovered less than a month ago in the Zhagabulak burial ground in the Mugalzhar region – a stone altar and a ceremonial sword lacquered with gold, ”the press service of the Akim of Aktobe region reports.
Note that the burial ground itself is a large complex dating back to the early Iron Age, that is, VI-V centuries BC. Bronze mirrors, gold buckles and other antiquities were also found here. Research on the archaeological site is still ongoing. Meanwhile, a Bronze Age settlement was discovered in the Kargalinsky District. The settlement is especially unique in that a metallurgical furnace was found on its territory. This indicates that the tribes inhabiting the territory of the modern Aktobe region in the Bronze Age possessed the technology of metal production. In addition, large-scale work will soon begin in the region to find the burial places of Amir Edige and Isatay Taimanuly. The ethnographic expedition, which included architects, ethnographers, archaeologists and Arabists, was headed by a famous scientist, Professor Serik Azhigali.
Summing up the results of the meeting, akim of the region Ondasyn Urazalin noted the importance of the ongoing research work, stressing that local executive bodies will continue to provide comprehensive assistance in the study, preservation and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
